Texture Theory

Texture is to create a surface that resembles a real life object.

How 3d materials work?

Texture map – is a two dimensional image file that can be appied to the surface of a 3d model to add colour to it.

Shaders – is the way anobject can be diturmied.

3d asset material maps

Diffuse map – is used to dictate the base colour and detail of an object, for example a paint colour, wood and metal.

Specular reflection map – is used to control the amount of light that an object reflects.

Glossiness reflection map – is used to control the size of the reflection on the model.

Bump map – is used to control the amount of light, it can also be used to raise an area of an object.

Normal map – is a lot better detail than a bump map, it can be a low poly, high poly and cage.

is also a 3d image baked on a 2d image.
